He was the last star to perform with John Lennon

The pair performed three songs together at Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving day in 1974.

It came after Elton had a bet with the late Beatles legend to perform at the show with him if their song 'Whatever Gets You Thru The Night' - which Lennon supplied the piano for - topped the chart.

It did, and the music legends went on to play that track and 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' and 'I Saw Her Standing There' at Lennon's final show before he was tragically assassinated in December 1980.
